Multiple officials estimate that the US war against Iran, in the first week alone, has cost Americans more than $11 billion

The Pentagon has asked the White House to approve a request to Congress for more than $200 billion in funding for the war in Iran, the "Washington Post" reported, citing a senior administration official.

However, it is unclear how much the White House will ultimately ask lawmakers in Congress. Some White House officials say the Pentagon's request has no realistic chance of being approved by Congress. The Pentagon has also made several different funding proposals in the past two weeks. Multiple officials estimate that the U.S. war with Iran has cost Americans more than $11 billion in its first week alone. Shortly after the war began, the Trump administration began preparing a supplementary funding request to cover the costs. Even before the Iran war, Donald Trump had requested that this year's defense budget be $1.5 trillion, more than 50 percent more than the previous year. It remains unclear how or whether the additional funding would count toward that total. The White House Office of Management and Budget has objected to the proposal, saying it is too high.
