The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said today that they had struck Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps ballistic missile production plants in Tehran overnight, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

"The Israeli Air Force carried out a large-scale operation in Tehran overnight. "As part of this operation, strikes were carried out on facilities used to produce components that play a significant role in the development of ballistic missiles for the Iranian regime's security services," the IDF said.

"The strikes significantly reduce the Iranian terrorist regime's capabilities to produce components for the development of ballistic missiles," the IDF stressed.

Among the sites affected is a center for the production and development of ballistic missile components, a storage facility, as well as a rocket fuel production center belonging to the Iranian Ministry of Defense.

The pro-Iranian group "Hezbollah" said today that fighting had broken out between its fighters and units of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) in two towns in southern Lebanon, Agence France-Presse reported, BTA reported.

The Lebanese movement reported "direct clashes with enemy IDF forces in the town of Hiam, which lasted four hours". Weapons and rockets were used in the fighting.

Hiam, a strategically important town, is located about 40 kilometers inland and overlooks the vast plains of southern Lebanon, as well as parts of northern Israel. It is in this area that the Israeli army began its ground operation after military action began earlier this month.

In recent days, the "Hezbollah" said it had repeatedly attacked IDF units and military equipment in and around Hiam.

The Shiite group also said that fighting had broken out between its fighters and the Israeli army in the west of the coastal city of Naqoura, where the headquarters of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon is located.

"Israeli soldiers tried to enter in the direction of Naqoura municipality," Hezbollah said, adding that the group's fighters returned fire.

The IDF announced a ground operation in southern Lebanon today, but said none of its soldiers had been injured. Most residents have left the southern parts of the country since the start of the conflict, following repeated evacuation warnings issued by Israel.
