Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico expressed the opinion that the EU should give up green technologies and develop its own economy, without relying on international organizations.

„NATO could collapse, the UN has no influence on world events. In an atmosphere of a collapsing global order, the EU should focus on its own economic power and forget about the senseless „green“ nonsense that is destroying our industry and economy“, the prime minister was quoted as saying by TASR news agency.

Fico added that NATO „could collapse at any time“ and the US withdrawal from the alliance could start this process. Commenting on the intensification of local conflicts, the Slovak prime minister expressed concern that heightened international tensions significantly increase the risk of a new world war.

“I have the feeling that someone is tired of 1981“, he said.

The European Commission has recommended that EU countries “show flexibility“ in filling their gas storage facilities and proposed to reduce the mandatory filling level by next winter to 80%, which is 10% lower than the EC's 2022 requirement.

This was reported by the European publication Politico, citing a letter from European Energy Commissioner Dan Jorgensen to EU countries.

„European countries are advised to show flexibility in filling their gas storage facilities to reduce gas demand during the closure of the Strait of Hormuz“, the publication notes.

„In his letter, Jorgensen called on EU countries to fill their gas storage facilities to 80% by winter, which is 10% lower than the previously applied target.“
