The Israeli army will step up ground operations and strikes in Lebanon, said this evening the Chief of General Staff Eyal Zamir, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.

"The operation against the terrorist organization "Hezbollah" is just beginning (. . .) It is a long operation and we are prepared for it," Zamir said in a statement.

"We are preparing to step up targeted ground operations and strikes, in accordance with a structured plan. We will not stop until the threat is pushed far from the border and long-term security for the residents of northern Israel is guaranteed, the chief of staff also said.

Iran launched a series of attacks on Gulf countries today, more than three weeks after the US and Israel launched their military operation against the Islamic Republic, DPA reported, BTA reported.

"Air defense systems are currently responding to a missile threat," said the civil defense of Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The UAE Ministry of Defense said that it has so far responded to Iranian attacks with 345 missiles, 15 cruise missiles and more than 1,700 drones.

Two UAE soldiers and six civilians have been killed since the start of the war in the Middle East. 160 people were injured.

The Saudi Defense Ministry said several drones were intercepted in eastern Saudi Arabia. One missile was intercepted near Riyadh.

The Bahraini Armed Forces said they had so far intercepted more than 140 Iranian missiles and more than 240 Iranian drones.
