Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke by phone with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and expressed concern over the spread of the US-Israeli war against Iran to the Caspian Sea, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

“Mutual concern was expressed regarding the dangerous spread of the conflict provoked by Tel Aviv and Washington to the Caspian Sea“, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Lavrov said attacks on Iranian nuclear infrastructure, including the Bushehr nuclear power plant, pose “unacceptable risks to the safety of Russian personnel and lead to catastrophic consequences for the environment“.

Earlier today, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned that attacks in the area of the nuclear power plant are dangerous.

A few days ago, Iran informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that a shell fell in the area near the Iranian nuclear power plant in Bushehr, but it did not cause damage and there were no injuries, Reuters reported.

„Iran informed the IAEA that a shell fell on the territory of the Bushehr nuclear power plant on Tuesday evening. There is no information about damage to the plant or injuries among employees,“ the agency wrote in Ex. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated his call for maximum restraint in the conflict to avoid the risk of a nuclear accident.

The Russian state nuclear energy company „Rosatom“ condemned the strike and added that radiation levels around the Russian-built plant are within normal limits.
