The Russian state nuclear corporation “Rosatom“ said today that it is preparing “several waves of evacuations“ of its personnel from the Iranian nuclear power plant in Bushehr, TASS reported, BTA reported.
Alexey Likhachev, the director general of “Rosatom“, said that only a few dozen people are planned to remain at the “Busher“ NPP.
The evacuations of “Rosatom“ personnel are planned for this week, he added, quoted by the Russian news agency Interfax.
Likhachev said on Thursday that there are 72 tons of fissile material at the site and 210 tons of spent nuclear fuel and that any strike on it could lead to a catastrophe.
Earlier today, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke by phone with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi and expressed concern about the spread of the US-Israeli war against Iran to the Caspian Sea.
