Iran has stopped natural gas supplies to Turkey after the Israeli attacks on the “South Pars“ field, reports the “Birgun“ publication, citing information from “Bloomberg“. About 14% of Turkey's gas needs are usually covered by imports from Iran, BTA reports.

There is currently no official information on how long the interruption will last, but Turkish authorities have repeatedly stated that the country has sufficient reserves to compensate for the shortage. According to “Bloomberg“, Ankara continues to secure supplies from its main partners - Russia and Azerbaijan.

On March 18, Israel carried out strikes on the “South Pars“ gas field. In response, Tehran attacked energy infrastructure in the Persian Gulf region, including the “Ras Laffan“ facility in Qatar, which is among the key producers of liquefied natural gas in the world and provides approximately one-fifth of global supplies.

The escalation of tensions between Iran on the one hand and Israel and the United States on the other has led to a significant increase in the price of energy resources on international markets.
