The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) called last night for “maximum restraint“ after Iran's report that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was hit, but without causing any damage to the facility, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

The IAEA said that Iran had informed it that “another projectile had hit the premises“ of the Bushehr nuclear power plant on Tuesday.

“IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reiterated his call for maximum restraint to avoid any risk to nuclear safety in a period of conflict,“ the UN agency said in a statement in Ex.

The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran said earlier that the Bushehr nuclear power plant had been hit by a missile that did not cause any damage, accusing the United States and Israel of being behind the attack.

The Bushehr nuclear power plant, the only one operating in Iran, has a production capacity of 1,000 megawatts, covering only a small part of the country's electricity needs, AFP noted.
