The use of British bases by the United States to strike Iran could make British military facilities legitimate targets for retaliation, Iran's ambassador to London, Seyed Ali Mousavi, said in an interview with The Times.
“This is a very important issue that we are considering. This is a very important issue for our self-defense. Representatives at the military level of our system will make the appropriate decision. It depends on your actions“, he said. “All options must be considered. We are taking a very cautious and sensitive approach to self-defense.“
The diplomat said Tehran does not trust the administration of US President Donald Trump. “We do not have the mutual trust with the Trump administration to resume dialogue“, the ambassador noted. “Unfortunately, President Trump has a very bad, terrible reputation. If you now want a peaceful resolution to this war, then first of all we must provide guarantees that force and aggression will not be used again against the Iranian people.“
The head of the diplomatic mission added that Tehran is ready to discuss issues related to its nuclear program. “We are ready to respond to any concerns and ambiguities“, he said.
