We cannot speak on behalf of NATO, but we can take a position from the perspective of European security and defense, the spokesperson said. We are clearly committed to a strong transatlantic relationship, it is key to our security, he added.
We are investing in our security and defense, so we have created opportunities for EU countries to use up to 800 billion euros for security, including 150 billion euros for joint defense procurement, the spokesman said.
As BTA reported, last week NATO reported that all allies are now meeting the target set in 2014 of providing two percent of GDP for defense. Last year, the alliance adopted a new target of 5 percent of GDP for defense needs by 2030.
