Iran has prepared a list of ships linked to US and Israeli interests that could be targeted, Mojtaba Ferdowsipour, head of the Islamic Republic's diplomatic mission in Egypt, told RIA Novosti.
“We have information about ships belonging to companies that support the US and Israel. The Intelligence Ministry forwards this information to the National Security Council. The Council approves it and passes it on to the Iranian armed forces, which add them to the list of targets“, Ferdowsipour said.
The US-Israeli operation in the Middle East has led to an almost complete shutdown of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for oil and liquefied natural gas supplies from the Persian Gulf states. This has led to a rise in fuel prices in most countries around the world.
Currently, Iran only allows friendly countries to pass through this sea route. According to the Tasnim news agency, the list includes Russia, China, India, Iraq and Pakistan.
