Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbian units have found explosives “with destructive power“ and detonators near the northern town of Kanija, near the gas infrastructure connecting Serbia and Hungary. This was reported by En1 TV, BTA reports.

In a post on “Instagram“ Vucic said he had a telephone conversation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, in which he informed him of the first results of the investigation by the military and police forces.

According to him, two large packages of explosives and detonators were found not far from the village of Velebit, a few hundred meters from the Balkan Stream gas pipeline.

Vucic added that the explosives were of high destructive power and could have endangered the lives of many people. They were found in the northern part of the autonomous region of Vojvodina.

The Serbian president also stated that the Hungarian side would be informed of the further development of the investigation.

He stressed that the authorities would act decisively against anyone who threatens key state interests, while assuring that the incident was prevented without casualties.
