Seven people were arrested at a protest against the war in Iran at Lakenheath, a British air force base used by the US in eastern Britain, The Guardian reports.

The newspaper reported that they were detained the previous morning after joining a peace camp at the main entrance to the air base. The activists wore tabards and chanted in support of the Palestinian cause. Police believe they were supporters of “Palestine Action“, a pro-Palestinian group banned in Britain.

The newspaper notes that in February the High Court ruled the government's decision to ban the movement unlawful. However, pending an appeal by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the organization remains illegal.

Earlier, two opponents of the Iran war were arrested in Lakenheath for blocking a highway and obstructing traffic. The protesters delivered a letter to Lakenheath commanders expressing their opposition to the use of British air bases by the US military and condemning their “disregard for international law“.
