Internet access in Iran will remain blocked as long as the war continues, Iranian government spokeswoman Fatemeh Mohajerani said, quoted by DPA, BTA reported.

Mohajerani said the government supports free access, but other considerations apply in times of war.

Internet access in Iran was restricted after the US-Israeli attacks on the country began on February 28, and this was the longest interruption in history.

The majority of the population in the 90 million-strong country has access only to content that is approved by the state, while part of the military and political elite continues to use the internet without restrictions.

Iranian media outlets continue to publish materials on the Telegram and X platforms, which are blocked for the population as overall.

Online commerce is practically at a standstill and hundreds of thousands of companies are affected.
