North Korea fired short-range ballistic missiles into the Sea of Japan today, the South Korean military reported, quoted by Yonhap, BTA reported.
A statement from the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the South Korean Armed Forces states that the missiles were launched from the area of the city of Wonsan at around 08:50 local time (02:50 Bulgarian time) and flew nearly 240 kilometers. North Korea has launched ballistic missiles for the fourth time this year.
"Our military is closely monitoring North Korea's various moves... and is ready to respond to any provocation with superior force," South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement.
Seoul earlier reported that the North Korean military had fired an "unidentified projectile" yesterday morning and that South Korean and US intelligence agencies were currently analyzing the case.
