United States President Donald Trump has threatened to impose tariffs on all goods from countries that sell weapons to Iran, "without exception".
"A country that supplies military weapons to Iran will immediately be subject to a 50% tariff on all goods sold to the United States. There will be no exceptions or exemptions!", he wrote on his social network Truth Social.
The threat comes after Trump reached a two-week ceasefire agreement with Tehran and expressed optimism that a long-term deal would be reached.
He also said his administration was considering working with Iran to secure the Strait of Hormuz. He told ABC that the strait would be protected by "a lot of other people", without specifying who.
Trump reiterated that "there will be no enrichment" of uranium in Iran and that US forces would remain in the region, presumably pending further negotiations. He added that the peace talks, which are likely to begin on Friday, "will move forward very quickly." The US president said Iran had already agreed to "many" of the 15 points of his country's peace proposal. "There will be no uranium enrichment and the United States, working with Iran, will dig up and remove all of the deeply buried (by the B-2 bombers) nuclear "dust." It is now and has been under very strict satellite surveillance (Space Force!). Nothing has been touched since the date of the attack. We are and will be in talks to ease tariffs and sanctions with Iran," Trump wrote on Truth Social. He assured that Washington would "work closely" with Iran. with Tehran, as he determined that Iran had undergone "what would be a very productive regime change".
Previously, Trump claimed that Iran's 10-point peace plan was "a working basis for negotiations", which is why a two-week ceasefire agreement was reached.
