US President Donald Trump said that Iran should not charge fees for tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
“There are reports that Iran is charging fees for tankers passing through the Strait of Hormuz. It would be better if that were not the case. And if that is the case, they better stop now“, the American leader wrote on Truth Social.
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said on April 8 that the United States opposes Iran charging fees for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, but the possibility of Washington and Tehran doing this jointly will be discussed in the next two weeks.
