US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his support for Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban ahead of the European country's parliamentary elections.
The American head of state called the Hungarian prime minister "a strong leader who has proven to achieve phenomenal results" in Truth Social.
“Victor has worked hard to protect Hungary, grow its economy, create jobs, promote trade, fight illegal immigration and maintain law and order“, Trump said, adding that the relationship between the United States and Hungary "has reached new heights“.
“I was proud to support Viktor during his re-election bid in 2022, and I am honored to do so again“, Trump stressed. He noted that Orban "will never let the Hungarian people down“.
Trump has already expressed his support for the current Hungarian prime minister in the upcoming elections. U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance wrapped up a two-day visit to Budapest on April 8. During his meeting with Orbán and at public events, Vance wished him success in the election.
Parliamentary elections in Hungary will be held on April 12. Orbán's ruling Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Union party is competing with the opposition Tisza party, whose leader, Peter Magyar, enjoys the support of EU leaders and is leading in opinion polls.
