Elections for the unicameral parliament of Kazakhstan (Kurultay), which will be formed after the new constitution comes into force, will be held in August 2026. This was stated by the President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

"As the head of state, I consider it extremely important to provide advance notification of events of great importance for our country. Therefore, immediately after the constitution comes into force, I will sign a decree on holding elections for a unicameral Kurultay. The elections will be held in August this year," he said at a meeting with scientists on the eve of the Day of Science Workers (celebrated in Kazakhstan on April 12). Tokayev's statement was quoted by his press service.

The new constitution, adopted in a referendum on March 15, will enter into force on July 1.
