The US has deprived Europe of free security, and the EU countries are already deprived of cheap energy from Russia, which they themselves rejected. This was stated today by the spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, reports the TASS agency, quoted by Focus.

''The competitive advantages of the Europeans were built on two aspects: cheap energy from Russia and free security from the US, but today neither one nor the other is left. America chased them away with free security, rejecting them. They (the EU) rejected us, trying to camouflage this rejection with some ideological 'higher considerations', the Kremlin spokesman noted.

We recall that on January 26, the Council of the European Union finally approved the regulation on the gradual suspension of imports of Russian natural gas. The ban came into force six weeks after its official adoption. Transitional periods are provided for existing import contracts. The complete ban on imports of liquefied natural gas is scheduled to come into force on January 1, 2027, and for gas supplies via pipelines - from autumn 2027.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on March 20 that the EU would not agree to gas supplies from Russia under any circumstances, even if Europe suffers power outages due to physical energy shortages.

On March 19, Kirill Dmitriev, the Russian President's Special Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and Head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), predicted a devastating tsunami of oil and gas prices for Europe, which would begin after a complete rejection of Russian energy sources. According to him, the rejection of profitable Russian oil and gas is the result of strategic mistakes by the EU leadership, including those caused by Russophobia.
