The Kremlin criticized today US President Donald Trump's announcement that the US would block the Strait of Hormuz, saying it would have a negative impact on global markets, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The US military said it would block shipping to and from Iranian ports later today - a move that would prevent approximately two million barrels of Iranian oil per day from entering world markets and further reduce global supply of the crude.
Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a press conference that Russia would continue to assist in de-escalating tensions over Iran. He added that Russia's proposal to accept enriched uranium from Iran remains in effect, although it has not yet been approved, TASS reported.
