North Korea conducted strategic cruise missile and anti-ship missile tests on Sunday as part of operational efficiency tests of its destroyer "Choe Hyon", the official Korean Central News Agency reported today, quoted by Reuters, BTA reported.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised the tests along with senior military and naval commanders, the statement said.

Two strategic cruise missiles and three anti-ship missiles were fired to check the ship's integrated weapons control system, practice the crew's actions in using missiles and test the reliability of navigation systems on board, the KCCA noted.

According to the statement The cruise missiles flew for between 7,869 and 7,920 seconds, and the anti-ship missiles for between 1,960 and 1,973 seconds over the water off the country's western coast, hitting their targets with extreme precision.

The KCNA noted that Kim was briefed on the same day about planned weapons systems to be fitted to two more destroyers currently under construction.
