The United States is committed to continuing negotiations with Iran and believes that Tehran is looking for a deal with Washington, said Vice President J.D. Vance.

“This is not a problem that will be solved overnight. But yes, I believe that the people we are sitting at the table with want to make a deal. And I know that the president of the United States told us to negotiate in good faith. We did. We will continue to do that,“ Vance said, speaking at a forum at Georgia State University.

He said the United States is offering Iran the opportunity to “join the world economy“ in exchange for a firm surrender of its nuclear weapons program. “That's the compromise he's offering,“ Vance said of the American leader.

“We're going to try to negotiate and make that happen, because it would be great for the world, for our country, for everybody. So I'm going to fight to make that happen,“ the vice president said. “I would say we've made a lot of progress in Pakistan,” Vance said, referring to talks with the Iranian delegation in Islamabad. He also expressed the opinion that the speaker of the Iranian parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, who participated in the meetings in Islamabad, “essentially runs Iran“.

The vice president specified that according to Washington's assessment “the ceasefire is currently being respected“.

The United States is offering Iran a big deal that would effectively normalize bilateral economic relations.

“What you see is a president who doesn't want to make a small deal“, he said, referring to Donald Trump. “He wants a big deal. What he is offering Iran is very simple, but frankly, no other president has had the opportunity to do this. He said: "If you (Iranian authorities - TASS) are ready to behave like a normal country, then we are ready to treat you economically like a normal country," Vance said.

US Vice President JD Vance is expected to lead the US delegation again if the next round of talks with Iran takes place, CNN reported, citing sources.

According to them, the US delegation will also include special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and the US leader's son-in-law Jared Kushner.
