The Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi said that North Korea is strengthening its nuclear capabilities, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Grossi told reporters in Seoul that the UN nuclear watchdog had detected a rapid increase in activity at the Yongbyon Nuclear Research Center, including the five-megawatt reactor, the reprocessing plant, a light water reactor and other facilities.

The IAEA Director General noted that North Korea probably has several dozen nuclear warheads.

North Korea conducted tests of strategic cruise missiles and anti-ship missiles on Sunday, as part of tests of the operational effectiveness of its destroyer "Choe" "Hyun," the official Korean Central News Agency reported yesterday, as quoted by Reuters.

North Korean leader Kim Jong-un supervised the tests along with senior military and naval commanders, the statement said.

Two strategic cruise missiles and three anti-ship missiles were fired to test the ship's integrated weapons control system, practice the crew's actions in using missiles and test the reliability of navigation systems on board, the KCNA noted.
