The US is preparing to send thousands of additional troops to the Middle East in the coming days, as the Donald Trump administration seeks to force Iran to conclude an agreement, US officials told the Washington Post, Focus reports.
The report also states that if the ceasefire is not respected, new strikes or ground operations are expected.
Officials said that about 6,000 soldiers aboard the aircraft carrier USS George HW Bush will be escorted by several warships to the Middle East.
Earlier, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that more than ten thousand members of the US armed forces, more than ten warships and dozens of aircraft are participating in the blockade of Iranian ports after the Strait of Hormuz measure came into effect following the US President's decision.
On the other hand, earlier today (April 15), ABC journalist Jonathan Karl reported that Trump said he did not see a need to extend the ceasefire with Iran, as the conflict "will end anyway."
