Leading Russian economic representatives have presented proposals to President Vladimir Putin to stimulate the economy after he criticized the weak results in the first two months of the year, the Kremlin said, quoted by "Reuters".

The Russian economy, which shrank in 2022 but reported growth in 2023, 2024 and 2025, has exceeded the average growth indicators of the G-7 countries since 2023. However, the pace of growth slowed last year, and Putin said there was a contraction in January and February.

During a meeting in the Kremlin on Wednesday, the head of state stressed that economic dynamics were below expectations and demanded specific options for improvement from the government's economic bloc. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the closed part of the meeting lasted several hours and included a free exchange of views.

According to Peskov, representatives of the economic team had proposed a number of measures to stimulate the economy and accelerate growth, but he did not disclose details. According to analysts, the Russian economy has probably been supported by high oil and gas prices, affected by the conflict over Iran.
