German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrind said that the crisis in the Middle East has not yet led to increased migratory pressure towards Europe, DPA reported, BTA reported.

"At the moment, we are not observing an increase in the migratory flow", Dobrind said in an interview with the "Rheinische Post" newspaper. According to him, the authorities are closely monitoring migration processes in countries such as Iran and Lebanon. There is currently significant internal displacement there, but so far there are no signs of pressure on the Turkish border, which would be the first signal for a possible movement of migrants towards Europe.

Nevertheless, preventive measures are being prepared at the European level, the minister added. Dobrind did not rule out the possibility that internal border controls in Germany will be extended after September. He stressed that such a decision does not depend solely on the situation in the country.

The reform of the Common European Asylum System is expected to enter into force on June 12 across the EU. According to the minister, it must function effectively, with the international situation and its potential consequences also playing an important role.

"The coming weeks will show how the situation will develop, especially in the Middle East, and whether this will lead to new migration flows," Dobrind added.
