The Serbian oil company "NIS", owned by Russia, received another exemption from US sanctions, BNT reported.

It gives the company in Pančevo the right to continue operating at least until June 16. This was announced by Serbian Minister of Energy Dubravka Dedović Handanović.

"NIS" was placed under US sanctions at the beginning of 2025, but since then it has requested and received several extensions. The last one expired yesterday.

At the end of March, US authorities also extended "NIS"'s license to discuss potential changes in the company's ownership structure until May 22.

The Hungarian oil and gas company "MOL" is about to finalize the deal to purchase the Russian majority stake in "NIS" of just over 56 percent.
