Lithuania and Latvia will not allow Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico's plane to fly over their territory on its way to Moscow to participate in the Victory Day celebrations.
“Lithuania and Latvia have already informed us that they will not allow us to fly over their territory on our way to Moscow“, the prime minister said in a video message posted on Facebook.
Fico assured that another route would be found. A similar situation arose in 2025, when Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania refused to allow the Slovak Prime Minister's plane to enter Russia.
“I hope I will have time to lay flowers at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier of the Red Army in Moscow“, Fico stressed.
He announced that in the coming months he also intends to participate in events marking the 82nd anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy and in celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of the United States.
