The European Union (EU) is trying to force Serbia to choose between continuing cooperation with Russia and the goal of EU membership. This European position is extremely wrong. This was stated today by the spokesman for the Russian President Dmitry Peskov, TASS news agency reported, quoted by Focus.

''In this case, we see demands aimed at antagonizing Serbia and Russia. The question arises: either you continue to strive for EU membership, for some community with the European Union, but on one condition - you break off all relations with the Russian Federation, join the sanctions, etc. - or you maintain friendly, pragmatic relations with the Russian Federation, but then forget about European prospects. This is an extremely incorrect way of putting the issue, the Kremlin spokesman told reporters.

He recalled that every country is sovereign in its choice, including Serbia.

Those who propose such antagonistic conditions are wrong, because every country can harmoniously develop its relations with all countries in all directions. And do it in its own interests. After all, Russia has always been a supporter of the idea that every country should take a sovereign position and be guided by its own national interests,
