US Prime Minister Donald Trump expects Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to arrive in Washington for peace talks within three weeks.

The US president confirmed to reporters at the White House that Israel and Lebanon have agreed, with US support, to extend the ceasefire by three weeks. “Three weeks. And their leaders will probably be here during that period“, Trump said.

He described the upcoming meeting between the Israeli and Lebanese leaders as “historic“. “They haven't met in years. They've never met. Think about it!“, the American president noted.

On April 16, he announced that Israel and Lebanon would declare a 10-day ceasefire. The White House believes that this agreement could lead to lasting peace between the two countries. The American leader said that he invited Aoun and Netanyahu to meet at the White House in the coming days to hold peace talks.
