Russian drones hit foreign-flagged cargo ship in Odessa region, two killed in night strikes

Two Russian drones hit a cargo ship flying the flag of Saint Kitts and Nevis as it passed through a Ukrainian sea corridor to a port in the Odessa region, the Ukrainian Sea Ports Administration reported, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.

The attack caused a fire that was extinguished by the crew, the statement said. According to initial reports, there were no injuries.

Earlier, Ukrinform reported that two people were killed and 14 were injured in Russian strikes in the Odessa region. According to Reuters, the dead were an elderly couple.

Dozens of people were evacuated from the damaged residential buildings. Rescue services provided emergency assistance to the victims, including psychological assistance. Three children were in a state of severe shock.

The Bulgarians in the Odessa region number over 150,000 people and are the third largest according to the latest official census in Ukraine. About 50-60 thousand Bulgarians live in the city of Odessa itself. The largest compact Bulgarian population is concentrated in the Bolgrad, Izmail and Belgorod-Dniester regions.
