Tehran has presented Washington with a new proposal to resolve the conflict, calling for lifting the US blockade, opening the Strait of Hormuz and continuing discussions on Iran's nuclear program, Axios reported, citing its sources.

According to them, representatives of the Islamic Republic have submitted a new proposal to the American side through intermediaries in Pakistan.

„The new proposal is aimed at overcoming the current stalemate in the negotiations and disagreements over the scope of nuclear concessions that the Iranian leadership is ready to make in order to reach a deal with the Trump administration“, the portal writes.

According to the portal, Iran's proposal „focuses primarily on "resolving the crisis around the Strait of Hormuz and the US blockade". It is assumed that the parties should extend the ceasefire "for a long period or agree on a permanent cessation of the war".

“According to the proposal, negotiations on the nuclear program would begin only at a later stage, after the Strait of Hormuz is opened and the blockade is lifted", notes Axios. According to the report, the American leader intends to hold a cabinet meeting on April 27 to "discuss the impasse in negotiations with Iran and possible next steps in the war".

On April 25, the US president announced that Washington had received a new proposal from Tehran after his negotiators canceled a visit to Pakistan to meet with the Iranian side. He previously announced the cancellation of a trip to Pakistan by his special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, saying his country was ready to negotiate with Iran by phone.
