Authorities in the US are investigating reports of possible links between Cole Thomas Allen, accused of attempting to assassinate US President Donald Trump, and left-wing political groups.
This was announced at a press conference by acting US Attorney General Todd Blanch.
He was asked if authorities were investigating reports that the accused may have been associated with a group called The Wide Awakes. “Yes, of course we are investigating that”, he replied.
Allen was charged with attempting to assassinate the US President, transporting a firearm and ammunition with intent to commit a felony and using a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.
