Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered his representatives to establish contact with US President Donald Trump's team to clarify the details of Russia's proposal for a temporary ceasefire. This was reported by Ukrinform, referring to Zelensky's publication on “Telegram“, BTA reports.
“I have instructed our representatives to contact the US President's team and clarify the details of Russia's proposal for a temporary ceasefire. Ukraine wants peace and is doing the necessary diplomatic work to end this war in a real way,“ Zelensky said.
According to him, it is important to understand what exactly the proposal includes - whether it is a short-term ceasefire related to the holding of events in Moscow, or a more serious and sustainable process.
“We offer a long-term ceasefire, reliable guarantees of security and lasting peace. Ukraine is ready to work for this in all fair and effective ways,“ the Ukrainian president added.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a conversation with Donald Trump that Russia is ready to declare a ceasefire on May 9.
