US President Donald Trump said that he does not want to wear a bulletproof vest because it would make him look less slender.

During an event at the White House, reporters asked the president if he planned to increase his security after the shooting at the reception in Washington, which he attended with the first lady.

The president responded by stating that he was pleased with the actions of the Secret Service and added that he did not want to wear a bulletproof vest.

“I don't know if I could bear to look 20 pounds heavier“, he said.

The head of state explained that he was not concerned about the possibility of further assassination attempts.

“I don't think about "If I thought about it, I wouldn't be as effective," the US president said.

Media representatives also asked him about the results of a ballistics analysis that was supposed to determine whose bullet hit the body armor of one of the Secret Service agents - the one detained for the attempted assassination or another security officer.

"Well, they said it wasn't friendly fire," the US president replied.
