A Japanese man has been arrested on suspicion of burning his wife's body in a crematorium at a zoo, TBS reports.

According to investigators, in late March, a 33-year-old employee of the Asahiyama Zoo on the northern island of Hokkaido burned the body of his 33-year-old wife in a crematorium on the zoo's grounds. During questioning, he stated that he had burned his wife's body for several hours and also hinted at his involvement in her death.

Investigators found fragments of remains in the oven, but the murder theory has not yet been officially confirmed.

The television channel also notes that the deceased complained to her relatives about threats from her husband.
