Democrats in the US House of Representatives are developing a large-scale strategy for investigations against the administration of Donald Trump and financial structures related to him, the authoritative publication "Wall Street Journal" (WSJ) reported.

This plan will be activated immediately if the party manages to regain control of the lower house of Congress after the midterm elections in November 2026.

Sources of the publication indicate that the Democrats do not plan to start an immediate impeachment procedure, as they consider it ineffective at this stage. Instead, the focus will fall on a thorough examination of the decisions of the White House administration. The goal is to determine whether the president's powers were used for personal financial gain, or in the interests of close allies and major political donors.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) contracts, funding for White House construction projects, and possible "service-for-service" schemes will be under scrutiny. Democrats have already begun sending formal letters to a number of leading corporations and contractors, including Apple, Alphabet, Palantir, Tesla, Blackstone, and BlackRock. The requested documents will serve as legal grounds for subpoenas by Congress immediately after the potential majority surrender.
