Drones blew up the Novokuybyshevsk Refinery in the Samara region of Russia (VIDEO)
A large-scale fire has engulfed the Rosneft oil refinery, and a large logistics center at the OZON market is also under attack.
On the night of August 22, 2026, the Samara region in the Russian Federation became the subject of a large-scale air attack with drones. Local residents and monitoring channels report a series of powerful explosions, after which a large fire broke out on the territory of the Novokuybyshevsk Oil Refinery (NPZ). The enterprise is part of the structure of the state giant “Rosneft“ and has a design capacity of nearly 8.8 million tons of oil per year. This was reported by the Ukrainian publication RBK-Ukraine (www.rbc.ua/ukr/news/novokuybishevskiy-npz-rosiyi-atakuvali-droni-1787362664.html), citing OSINT analyses and video footage on social networks.
In addition to the oil refinery, another key facility in the region was also damaged in the midnight strikes. This is the logistics complex of the leading Russian marketplace OZON, located in the city of Chapaevsk. According to information from the intelligence community ASTRA (korrespondent.net), a "danger from UAVs" regime was declared in the area at around 02:47 local time, and a little later the sky was lit up by flames and thick black smoke. At the moment, the new governor of the Samara region, Vyacheslav Fedorishchev, has not yet officially confirmed the extent of the damage.
Over the past 24 hours, the Defense Forces of Ukraine have neutralized another 1,240 Russian servicemen. This was officially announced by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in its morning briefing on August 22, 2026, quoted by the agency UNN (unn.ua). This brings the total number of losses in the aggressor's personnel since February 24, 2022 to approximately 1,475,270 people.
In addition to the serious blow to manpower, the Russian army has also suffered heavy losses of combat equipment on the battlefield. According to data from Украинская правда (pravda.com.ua/rus/news/2026/08/22/8049778/), Ukrainian defenders have destroyed or damaged 6 tanks, 6 armored combat vehicles, a record for recent days 64 artillery systems, 2 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), 3 air defense systems (AAV) and 1792 unmanned aerial vehicles of operational-tactical level. The growing losses of combat equipment indicate the intensity of artillery duels and defensive operations along the entire line of contact.
