The Russian army continues its massive attacks on civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. As of 9:30 a.m. on August 23, 2026, the number of injured after the brutal double strike on a shopping mall in Kryvyi Rih has officially risen to 140 people. Meanwhile, over the past 24 hours, new airstrikes with guided bombs (KAB) and jet drones have injured civilians in Izyum and Kharkiv, while overall Russian losses on the front have reached new heights.

The tragedy in Kryvyi Rih: 140 injured under rubble at a mall

The head of the Kryvyi Rih Defense Council, Alexander Vilkul, announced on his official Telegram channel that the number of victims in the attack on the local shopping center has jumped to 140. According to him, eight more citizens, including a child, have sought medical help in the past few hours.

Fifty wounded people remain in hospitals, 13 of whom are children. Six patients are in critical condition. The Russians attacked the site in two waves, with the second strike being deliberately delivered during the rescue operation. According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, the total number of deaths in the Dnipropetrovsk region has reached 16 people.

Bloody statistics: Four victims in four Ukrainian regions

Over the past 24 hours, four people have died and 30 others have been seriously injured as a result of Russian aggression on the territory of four Ukrainian regions. Local military administrations in Sumy, Donetsk, Kherson and Zaporizhia regions are coordinating the clearing of debris from the affected residential buildings.

A strike with three KABs on Izyum destroyed dozens of homes

At around 04:05 in the morning, Russian troops attacked the city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region, the Izyum city military administration reported. Three guided aerial bombs (GABs) were used, hitting the northern part of the city and the Verkhne Selishte area.

Casualties: Two wounded civilians. Damage: About 20 private houses, cars and the power grid were damaged.

A jet drone blew up private houses in Kharkiv

On the night of August 23, Russia launched a high-speed jet drone of the "Shahed" type directly at a residential area in Kharkiv. The city's mayor, Igor Terekhov, confirmed that the hit was registered in the Osnovyansky district. Massive fires broke out in two private houses. The head of the Kharkiv OVA, Oleg Sinegubov, announced that 7 people were injured in the attack, including a 15-year-old teenager who experienced an acute stress reaction.

General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine: Russia lost another 1,310 soldiers

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict heavy losses on the occupation forces. According to the morning report of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Facebook, in the past 24 hours alone, the Russian army has lost another 1,310 servicemen - killed and wounded.

This brings the total combat losses of the Russian Federation's manpower since the beginning of the invasion to approximately 1,476,580 people. Over the past 24 hours, Ukrainian defenders have also destroyed 26 armored combat vehicles, 69 artillery systems, one air defense system and one aircraft.
