Attack on oil tanker off the coast of Oman
Security in strategic sea lanes has been seriously disrupted after the British Maritime Trade Operations Agency (UKMTO) reported an incident in the Gulf of Oman, near the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz. A commercial oil tanker was hit by an “unidentified projectile“ about 9 nautical miles northeast of Ash Shisha, Oman. According to data cited by [Gulf News], the strike caused severe damage to the engine room and disabled the vessel, leaving it uncontrollable. The crew is unharmed and safe, with regional coast guards already investigating the attack, for which no one has yet officially claimed responsibility.
