Two people were killed and two others were injured in a new midnight drone attack in the Krasnodar region, Russian officials said early on the morning of August 25, 2026. The strike also caused large-scale fire on the territory of a local oil refinery.
Afipskaya station tragedy and destruction in the residential sector
According to an official statement by the governor of the region, Veniamin Kondratiev, published on his official Telegram channel (t.me/Exile_M_Kondratiev), debris from a downed drone fell on the territory of the railway station in the settlement of Afipsky. The victims and injured were registered precisely at this site.
In addition to damage to the railway infrastructure, the shock wave and falling debris caused serious material damage to the settlement. At least 10 private houses in Afipsky were partially destroyed, and one of them caught fire, the Kuban regional operational headquarters reported.
The Afipsky oil refinery caught fire
In parallel with the strike on civilian and transport infrastructure, local residents reported a series of powerful explosions in the local industrial zone. Immediately after the explosions, a huge glow appeared over the area and thick black smoke rose, reports the Ukrainian media Obozrevatel (war.obozrevatel.com).
Governor Kondratyev confirmed that as a result of the UAV attack, an ignition occurred on the territory of an oil refinery, which, according to monitoring channels, is the strategic Afipsky refinery. As of 6:27 Bulgarian time, reinforced fire brigade and emergency rescue teams are still working on the site. Data on possible injured plant employees and the exact extent of damage to technological installations are still being specified.
Second consecutive night under fire
The current attack occurs only 24 hours after the previous massive wave of drones against the Krasnodar Territory, carried out on the night of August 24. During the strike at that time, debris collapsed a private children's center in Krasnodar, which led to the death of three children and the injury of 12 others, the Russian news agency Interfax (interfax.ru) recalls. Then, large logistics centers of the Ozon marketplace were also set on fire.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation (mil.ru) has not yet provided final statistics on the exact number of Ukrainian drones intercepted and destroyed in the skies over the Kuban last night.
