The most worrying thing right now is that literally any scenario is possible, Tusk said

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the Russian invasion of Ukraine a little more than two years ago started a new era of wars in Europe, DPA reported, BTA reported.

"I know it sounds crushing, especially for the younger generation, but we have to get used to the fact that a new era has begun: the pre-war era. I'm not exaggerating, it's becoming clearer every day," he told the German Welt newspaper. "I don't want to scare anyone, but war is no longer a thing of the past. It is real and it started more than two years ago," noted the Polish Prime Minister.

The most worrying thing right now is that literally any scenario is possible, Tusk said. "We haven't seen a situation like this since 1945," he stressed, referring to the year Hitler's Germany surrendered in World War II. At the same time, Tusk said he was witnessing a revolution in the European mentality. No one questions the need for a common defense anymore. "Look at Germany, where there has been a huge turnaround. Today, the CDU and the GSDP are competing to see which of them is more pro-Ukrainian," he noted.

Given Russia's use of migrant flows, he called for more consistent protection of the EU's external borders. "The European Union as a whole, as a powerful organization, must be mentally ready to fight for the security of our borders and territory," the Polish Prime Minister stressed.

Earlier this morning, Polish and allied planes were put on alert after Russia launched missile strikes on Ukraine, Reuters reported, citing the operational command of the Polish armed forces. This "may lead to increased noise levels, especially in the south-eastern part of the country", which borders Ukraine, the Polish armed forces said in "Ex".
