A new Russian strike against Kharkiv, Ukraine's second largest city, early this morning killed two civilians and wounded seven, regional governor Oleg Sinegubov said in a Telegram message, Reuters reported.

Public TV “Suspilne“ reported that a high-rise residential building in the Shevchenko district was damaged, and a shop was on fire. Other media reported that the strike took place just after midnight.

Earlier, Sinegubov reported an attack in Kharkiv on a residential building and a rocket attack on a village north of the city. There were no reports of casualties in either incident.

Kharkov, in northeastern Ukraine, has been a frequent Russian target, with attacks intensifying in recent weeks. On Wednesday, a drone attack on the city killed four people and caused extensive damage to apartment blocks.
