Former US President Donald Trump, who will try to win a new mandate in November, wants to make Ukraine negotiate with Russia, CNN reported, quoted from UNIAN agency.
If Trump wins the election in November, he is likely to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky the day after his election or the day after he takes office to begin coordinating negotiations.
Trump is likely to use U.S. military aid to Ukraine as leverage to bring both sides to the negotiating table, a source close to the Republican candidate said.
Trump's condition to Putin is clear: if you don't want us to give huge amounts of weapons to Kiev, you will sit down and negotiate. The same applies to Ukraine. According to the source, Trump wants to end the war immediately, finding a solution “somewhere in the middle” between Moscow and Kyiv.
This means that Russia will not take more territory, but Ukraine will lose 1/5 of its land that is currently occupied by the Russians. Kiev has repeatedly opposed this type of “peace talks”. Trump had previously said he would end the war within 24 hours if he became president. Kyiv is skeptical of these words.
