Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has convened his military cabinet, world agencies reported.
The Israeli prime minister has gathered senior officials at the military headquarters in Tel Aviv, his office said in a statement. This is happening because of the massive attack that Iran launched against Israel. The country is preparing to intercept a volley of drones and missiles fired by Iran, which are expected to arrive in the coming hours.
Iran has aimed over 100 drones and cruise missiles at the territory of Israel. Some of them were struck in the airspace over Syria and Jordan, the Israel Defense Forces reported, as quoted by the Jerusalem Post. Israel announced that it is closing its airspace for domestic and international flights from 00:30 local (and Bulgarian time), reported AFP.
Iran has launched an air strike against Israel that is likely to last several hours, the White House said, as quoted by Reuters. US President Joe Biden receives timely information from his national security team and is in constant contact with Israeli officials, as well as US partners and allies, National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson said in a statement.
