The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (FSU) Oleksandr Sirsky said that the Russian occupying army has set a deadline for the capture of the city of Chasov Yar – this should happen by May 9.

Colonel General Sirsky said that Vladimir Putin wants his troops to capture the city in eastern Ukraine for Victory Day so he can use it as propaganda.

According to Sirski, Russia's plan is to then advance towards the Kramatorsk agglomeration. “The implementation of the enemy's plans is hampered by the heroic defense of our troops,” said the commander of the ZSU.

In this direction of the front, measures have been taken to significantly strengthen the brigades with ammunition, unmanned aircraft and equipment for radio-electronic warfare, Sirski pointed out. According to military experts, the Russian army is currently concentrating all its efforts on capturing Chasov Yar.

The city has strategic value and Ukraine is doing everything possible to keep it – despite the shortage of ammunition and weapons. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Russia may launch a large-scale offensive at the end of May. However, according to various estimates, the Russian army has no chance of breaking through at the front if it does not mobilize at least 300,000 more soldiers.
