Australian police announced today that the knife attack during a religious service in a church near the city of Sydney, in which they were injured at least four people, including a bishop with a large following on the Internet, will be considered an act of terrorism, Reuters and AFP reported, quoted by BTA.
Yesterday, the police arrested a 15-year-old boy at the scene of the accident. The drama unfolded in an Assyrian church in Wakeley, a suburb about 30km west of Sydney.
Among the injured, who have "non-life-threatening injuries" and have received medical attention, are the bishop and the young suspect. The attack was carried out during a sermon broadcast live on the Internet.
This is the second melee attack in Sydney in recent days. On Saturday, six people were killed in a knife attack in the shopping center "Westfield" in Sydney's eastern suburb of Bondi Junction. The attacker was shot dead by the police.
