Chasov Yar could fall at any moment because the Ukrainian army is critically short of resources, primarily artillery and air defense. Military expert Vladislav Seleznev expressed this opinion in an interview for OBOZ.ua.

He points out that due to the lack of air defense, Russian Su-25 aircraft can attack Ukrainian positions with impunity. Earlier, the Commander-in-Chief of the ZSU, General Oleksandr Sirsky, announced that the Russian occupation army was preparing for the capture of Chasov Yar to the "sacred" date May 9.

Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to present the capture of the city as a spectacular success on Victory Day. According to Vladyslav Seleznyov, the situation for the Ukrainian forces at the front is difficult, but it is still too early to make predictions whether the Russians will be able to capture the strategic Ukrainian city in the eastern part of the country within weeks.

„I think that we should take General Sirsky's statements as a warning, but this does not mean at all that the Russian army will carry out its plan by that date. The fact is that the situation on the battlefield is determined by the resource capabilities of the Ukrainian army, Seleznyov said.

The enemy continues to exert serious pressure on the Ukrainian Defense Forces in various sections of the front, he pointed out, emphasizing the critical shortage of ammunition and weapons in the Armed Forces. “Our servicemen do not have the same means, above all artillery and air defense means, to actively oppose the advance of the Russian occupation army”, the analyst said.
