The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry defined as "threats" and "pressure" of Paris announced last night France's decision to recall its ambassador to Baku "for consultations", France Press reported, BTA reported.

"The Azerbaijani side has indicated to France several times that a language of threats and pressure will not lead to any result and announces again that it will take all necessary measures to protect its national interests," the statement of the Azerbaijani diplomatic department.

"Our country's official actions and statements regarding France were only a response to that country's destructive actions," the foreign ministry added, accusing Paris of a "smear campaign.

French diplomacy, in turn, condemned last night the "unilateral actions" of Baku, which, according to Paris, harm bilateral relations, AFP recalls.

In a comment by the spokesperson of the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry, Ayhan Hajizada, regarding the recall of the French ambassador, it is said that France has taken "open and clear anti-Azerbaijani actions after the war in 2020", AZERTAJ reports. Hajizada rejected French accusations of unilateral actions and stressed that Paris' actions "do not serve peace".
